Slurry Pulsation Pressure Sensors


Depew, NY - High-sensitivity piezoelectric ICP® pressure sensors from the Pressure Division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., measure fast pressure transients, surges, spikes, and pulsations in paper slurry delivery systems. Models 106C10 and 106C20 ICP® dynamic pressure sensors are used for detecting and monitoring dynamic pressure pulsations of paper slurry in headbox and piping systems, and for troubleshooting root causes of slurry flow irregularities.


The units generate a low-noise, 300 mV/psi (43.5 mV/kPa) output signal, are installed through check valves, and adjust for flush-mounting within the slurry flow.  Because the sensors are AC-coupled devices, any ambient, static background pressure or very slow pressure changes are ignored, permitting the units to monitor low-level dynamic pressures while being subjected to high static background pressure levels.

Air Velocity and Temperature Measurements in HVAC Installations


Portable air velocity and temperature measurements in HVAC installations, ventilation ducts and clean rooms can be done easily with the new VELOPORT handheld series from E+E Elektronik. VELOPORT series are ideal for checking the operation of HVAC systems and of stationary air velocity and temperature measuring devices. Based on an E+E hot film anemometer sensing element, VELOPORT 20 provides high accuracy even for air speed lower than 0.5m/s (100ft/min). Due to very small diameter (6mm = 0.2”) of the stainless steel sensing probe VELOPORT 20 can be employed for measurements at narrow locations.


Two sensing probes are available for the ranges 0…2m/s (0…400ft/min) and 0…20m/s (0…4000ft/min) respectively. They measure also the air temperature in the range 0…50°C (32…122°F). The sensing probes are pluggable and quickly interchangeable, calibration data is stored in each probe.

Hand-held Pistonphone Calibrates Acoustic Pressure Sensors


Depew, NY -Model 915AOI Hand-held Pistonphone Kit from the Pressure Division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc. provides field or laboratory calibration of high-sensitivity piezoelectric acoustic pressure sensors. Self-contained, battery-powered pistonphone generates stable and accurate sound pressure level reference of 134 dB (100 Pa) at 250 Hz.


Included barometric pressure gauge provides ambient, atmospheric pressure correction factor. Kit includes batteries and the required accessories and adaptors for calibrating PCB Series 103, 106, and 116 piezoelectric pressure sensors. Miniature Differential Pressure Sensors


Celsum Technologies Ltd now offers the NE74 Series Miniature Differential Pressure Sensors. These are available with pressure ranges from ±150 millibars (±2 psi) through to ±100 bars (±1,500 psi) have a 10-times full-scale over-range capability, and will operate at line pressures up to 400 bars (5,800 psi) in differential mode. They can be supplied in both True Differential and Absolute versions, and calibrated in bars or psi. The standard version is manifold mounting, with a wide range of optional threaded connectors.


The NE74 pressure sensor uses Variable Reluctance Technology and consists in essence of a diaphragm of magnetic material that is centrally disposed between two fixed coils, the coils being potted in a high temperature resin and sealed via a welded stainless steel shim. This completely isolates the coil from the pressure medium. The diaphragm is machined from a solid, forged section and electron-beam welded to the end pieces. This construction results in an extremely rugged assembly with superb environmental characteristics and excellent reliability figures (100,000 hours MTBF). Typical applications include differential pressure measurement in down-hole installations and depth measurement in high temperature and high vibration environments.

Sensors are designed for accurate measurement of fast, transient forces, and are capable of monitoring low level dynamic force fluctuations over higher static loads. Units offer amplitude linearity of 1 % FS, and upper frequency limits to 90k Hz. Additional features include hermetically sealed stainless steel construction, low weight, and high stiffness.

Radio Telemetry Input-Output Module


Celsum Technologies Ltd. now offers the TIO Radio Telemetry Input-Output Module, a flexible instrument which may be configured by users to suit their applications. The radio telemetry system uses highly reliable, two-way, digital, licence-free communication and is available in two options, one operating at 868MHz for the European market, and one at 915MHz for the USA and Canada. The instruments are effective over radii up to 300 metres.


The TIO Input-Output Module comprises a base unit with four slots into which can be fitted a selection of plug-in function cards. The function cards available allow a choice of:

  • 8 channels of Digital Inputs with voltage free contacts or 24V signal

  • 8 channels of Digital Outputs with open collector or voltage-free relay contacts

  • 1 channel of Analogue Output 0.1V to 10VDC or 4 - 20mA at 15 bit resolution

  • 1 channel of Analogue Input 0 - 10V or 4 - 20mA, with a choice of 10 bit or 16 bit resolution

Dual Sensitivity Charge Converter


Depew, NY -New Model 422M147 Dual Sensitivity Charge Converter from the Electronics Division of PCB Piezotronics, lnc. converts high impedance charge sensor signals to low impedance voltage signals for operation with ICP sensor signal conditioners or readout devices which have an ICP sensor input. Device is designed for use with high temperature sensors with as low as 10k ohm resistance.


Unit offers operating temperature range to 250 °F (121°C). Devices permit user to jumper select between two fixed sensitivities, and allow for use of inexpensive coaxial cable at output. Ground isolated aluminum enclosure mounts easily to equipment. Custom sensitivities and connectors are available; TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) capabilities are optional.

New Features for SensorProbe Devices


AKCP (Bangkok, Thailand) announced a major firmware upgrade for all sensorProbe™ devices. Major new features and improvements are in this free upgrade. The web interface for both DC Voltage Sensor and 4-20 mA Converter has been improved, providing easy configuration of sensors and effective result interpretation. Users may choose to display either an absolute, or a percentage value, for all numbers on the sensor detail page. The unit of monitoring environment is also customizable, offering flexibility to users integrating external sensors (i.e.: "Lbs" when integrating a custom pressure sensor with a DC Voltage Sensor). When all numbers (readings and threshold settings) are displayed and entered in a decimal point format, monitoring and controlling accuracy is increased.


After upgrading, the sensorProbe can authenticate to SMTP servers. The sensorProbe includes the capability to send e-mail alerts when the environment changes beyond your specified limits. With many SMTP servers requiring an authentication, most e-mail clients support this feature. AKCP has also included a configuration option that enables the sensorProbe to login to such servers before sending out an e-mail.

Peak Monitoring System Combines Amplifier and Peak Meter


Depew, NY -The Pressure Division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., introduces new Mode1400B20 Peak Monitoring System for measuring peak shock, pressure, force, or impact phenomena. System combines a dual mode amplifier for conditioning signals from ICP and charge output piezoelectric sensors, and a peak meter. Dual mode amp features continuous gain. Resetting or zeroing may be accomplished manually or remotely. Peak meter displays peak voltage, with values directly correlating to peak input. In addition to peak hold, unit is capable of being used as a digital voltmeter and for measuring the bias of ICP sensors.


Two alarms monitor voltage and provide the. ability to set two separate threshold levels. Other features include sensor output normalization, overload detection, built-in calibration reference signal, an output jack for connection to readout devices, and three selectable discharge time constants for static sensor calibration.
