Order Statistics Performance Analysis of Multiple Receive Antennas Systems
Based on Pre-coding Alamouti Scheme

Abstract: For a double transmit and Nr receive antennas (denoted by {2; Nr}) system utilizing Almouti scheme, we assume the transmitter side knows partial channel state information (CSI), system channel characteristic obeies order statistics distribution. We employ a power allocation strategy at the transmitter side, also referred to as pre-coding technique, which the transmitted power is unequally distributed across two transmit antennas. In this paper, we will investigate theoretically the {2; Nr} Alamouti system with pre-coding scheme. Firstly, the decoupling method of the received signals is investigated and analyzed, the order statistics of channels between each transmit antenna and the receiver side is modelled. For the general {2; Nr} system with pre-coding Alamouti scheme and M-ary PSK modulation, we derive in detail a closed-form expression of the exact bit-error-rate (BER) performance. Compared with without pre-coding system, the results of theoretical numerical have shown that system bit error performance can be effectively enhanced when more transmitted power is injected to the transmit antenna related to the best channel. Finally, we make a conclusion that the more power allocated to the best transmit antenna, the BER performance improvement is not obvious.
