Silicon Sensing Launches New MEMS Gyros

 

Silicon Sensing Systems has launched two new, silicon MEMS angular rate sensors – CRG20 and CRS09 – each based on the unique and patented silicon ring gyro technology that has proved so successful in a wide variety of applications.

 

CRG20 is a new low-cost miniature angular rate sensor.  This high-quality gyro-on-a-chip derives from Silicon Sensing’s high-volume supply to the automotive industry.  It is ideal for applications where both cost and performance are key drivers and will make high-integrity motion sensing more affordable in such applications as remote-control model helicopters, telematics, navigation aids and robotics.

 

Full digital closed-loop control electronics eliminates any temperature and aging effects associated with analogue devices, and built-in temperature compensation enables exceptionally stable performance over a wide range of operating conditions.  It is available in a variety of rate ranges, with both digital and analogue outputs.

 

To aid initial evaluation, a range of development tools is available, from simple break-out boards to USB-based PC interface boards.

 

 

CRS09 is a low-noise high-performance angular rate sensor, ideal for applications such as stabilisation, navigation and testing.  The combination of silicon MEMS gyro and high-quality discrete electronics, enables best-in-class performance for demanding applications.  It is the sensor of choice for applications where a fibre-optic gyro would previously have been the only solution. 

 

Excellent temperature stability, and the provision of both internal temperature and silicon ring frequency data as additional outputs, allow very accurate calibration of the gyro over its operating temperature range.

 

CRS09 is ideal for platform stabilisation, measurement and test, and high-performance general aviation applications such as AHRS.

 

Each of these new products also offers new choices for the designer in a wide range of current applications for Silicon Sensing’s gyros, such as in agriculture, antenna control, marine autopilots, aircraft instrumentation, robotics and industrial machinery – as well as extending the range of applications in the automotive marketplace.

 

These two new products are underpinned by Silicon Sensing’s commitment to the technical back up and long-term support necessary to major procurement programmes.
