SENSOR+TEST 2010 – The Measurement Fair Widespread Satisfaction Among Exhibitors and Visitors: a Final Report

The SENSOR+TEST has again borne out its reputation as a business indicator for the sensor and measuring industries. The figures of the exhibitor and visitor polls for this year reflect not only the widespread satisfaction with the trade fair and its offering, but also the significantly improved economic expectations held by the participants. The exhibiting enterprises were especially satisfied with the increased number of visitors compared to last year and with the high quality of the inquiries. The visitor poll taken by a neutral market research institute during the course of the fair confirms the interesting structure and high professionalism of the visitors clearly as an advantage of the SENSOR+TEST.

“The positive development in visitor figures, lets us look to the future of the SENSOR+TEST and the entire industry with new confidence,” says Holger Bödeker, Managing Director of AMA Service, the organiser, about the results of the visitor poll. The major fields represented by the visitors were electronics (24%), automotive and aerospace (23 %), and engineering and plant construction (19%). The number of decision makers in regard to purchasing is very high at 94 % of all visitors. The economic development of the industry is clearly considered more positively than last year. Thus, 72% of the visitors expect a positive business development of the industry (slight upturn or boom), whereas the figure for last year was only 22 %.

Exhibitors very satisfied with the fair

Similar results were obtained from the exhibitors, who were also polled. While a year ago only 10% of the visitors could see a positive development of the sensor industry, the figure for this year increased to 79%. The right target groups among the visitors and the very good organization of the event were also emphasized by most exhibitors. Grigorios Kenanidis, CEO of STS Sensoren Transmitter Systeme GmbH, for instance, stated, “We exhibit at the SENSOR+TEST because this is exactly where we meet our target group. The advantage, from our point of view, is that a lot of competent visitors come here and many approach us with very concrete project definitions.” A total of 92 % of the polled exhibitors expect noticeable business as a direct result of their participation in the trade fair.

New conference also successful

The VDE Informationstechnische Gesellschaft (ITG), the organisers of the “Sensors and Measuring Systems” conference held for the first time this year parallel to the SENSOR+TEST, were also very satisfied. Professor Leonhard Reindl (University of Freiburg), who co-chaired the conference with Professor Reimund Gerhard (University if Potsdam), said, “We feel very comfortable here with our conference. The entire atmosphere is very pleasant and the AMA gave us optimum support in preparation. With 270 registrations we set a record this year for conference participants. I heard from a number of participants that they consider it positive that the conference this year was held parallel to the SENSOR+TEST.”

The overall concept of the event with its fair, parallel conferences, and action programme, such as forum demonstrations and the Action Area, was judged very positively. Thus with 96 % practically all visitors were satisfied with the range of offers at the SENSOR+TEST. The number of visitors who found the information available at the stands particularly positive was even higher with 98 %.

Next year, the SENSOR+TEST will again be held in Nürnberg, this time from the 7th to the 9th June 2011. The trade fair will be complemented by the AMA Association’s three conferences, the SENSOR 2011, OPTO 2011 und IRS² 2011.
