Seven years ago the first annual course on Smart Sensor Systems has taken place in Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands). There were trained 120 specialists from industry and academy till now. In 2001 this course has been awarded the Quality Label by European Commission's EuroTraining programme (EuroTraining NEWS, Issue 15, January 2001). The objective of the EuroTraining Quality Labeling (QL) scheme has been to improve the quality of microelectronics technology training in Europe, to deliver high quality standards of training to European industry by checking that course providers have a sound process in place for the development and delivery of training courses. The basis for QL is an assessment using the criteria:

'The scheme recognizes the high standards established by qualifying course providers and accredits courses supplied by these organizations. The QL procedure itself has now achieved European recognition and at present there are 28 companies holding a QL Certificate. In addition 6 other organization are following the QL route'. (EuroTraining NEWS, Issue 19, January 2002).The QL is an EU-approved endorsement of high teaching standards and facilities and an accreditation that shows a benefit for both students and providers. This cource is also highly recommended by IFSA.
