During 2009 we again published information about many new sensors products from different manufacturers. Here's our editorial selection of those that we found the most interesting from innovation point of view. All these products have passed a two-stage selection: fist - for publication in the Sensors & Transducers Magazine as most interesting and relevant products; second - as most innovative products among all published in the Magazine during 2009. You'll find a brief description of products. If your interesting in more detailed description please check out the online version of this press release, which provides links to the vendors mentioned.

Non-contact angle sensor

Non-contact Angle Sensors Non-contact rotary sensors are based on a magnetic, contactless sensor principle. They are accordingly not only free of wear and extremely robust in withstanding external influences, but demonstrate impressive long life, precision and resolution. They are available both as standard components and as customer-specific designs and, depending on the version, have tolerances of several millimetres in terms of axial offsets. They also boast convincing performance features, such as maximum 14-bit resolution and 10-bit precision at a linearity of 0.3 % ...

Silicon pressure sensors

Most Stable Silicon Pressure Sensors Honeywell has introduced its TruStability™ Silicon Pressure Sensors comprised of the HSC (High Accuracy Silicon Ceramic) Series and SSC (Standard Accuracy Silicon Ceramic) Series that offer customers three key benefits not found in other silicon pressure sensors currently available. The HSC Series is designed to provide an industry-leading ± 1 % total error band specification, compensated across a 0 °C to 50 °C [32 °F to 122 °F] temperature range. Both Series offer the option of analog or digital outputs. Digital ASIC output in either I2C or SPI protocols from digital sensors accelerates performance through reduced conversion requirements and the convenience of direct interface to microprocessors or microcontrollers. ...

Inclinometer for mobile applications

Extreme Compact Inclinometers for Mobile Applications  As system supplier of total automation solutions, Inter Control recently extended their product range by advanced inclinometers based on reliable micromechanics technology. In order to achieve the requirements of various applications like automatic levelling of vehicles or cage levelling of aerial work platforms, inclinometers with 1 and 2 axes have been developed. They are available in various measurement ranges from +/-10° to 360°...

Linear magnetic encoder AS5311

The First Integrated Linear Hall Encoder with Submicron Resolution Range austriamicrosystems has introduced AS5311, the first Hall-effect sensor based linear magnetic encoder to offer submicron resolution. This integrated linear Hall encoder can be used as an alternative to optical encoders. For linear motion sensing, a multi-pole magnetic strip is used and for rotary motion sensing the magnetic strip is replaced by a multi-pole magnetic ring. For applications like this, an incremental output with a resolution of 10 bit per pole pair and a travelling speed up to 650mm per second is available ...

TempTrackr

Wireless Temperature Measurement Solution with Multi-sensor Capabilities SenGenuity, the Sensors division of Vectron International, today announced its TempTrackr™ Wireless Temperature Measurement Solution. This unique measurement system allows for parallel interrogation of several independent passive temperature sensors. Through use of independent frequency bands the sensors maintain unique identification within the system architecture. And because the sensors are SAW based they require no power source ...

Position sensor POSITAPE WB17KT

New Stainless Steel Tape Position Sensor ASM Sensors, Inc. has expanded its line of absolute linear position sensors with the new POSITAPE® WB17KT series of stainless steel tape sensors with measurement ranges of 137, 255 and 393 inches. Building upon this proven technology, the new POSITAPE® series replaces the thin measurement cable with a thin, highly flexible stainless steel band. This robust sensor features an extremely high service life in a very compact housing. The WB17KT series is available with analog 0-10 V, 4-20 mA or 1 kOhm outputs. This sensor is also available with either absolute digital SSI or CAN-Bus outputs ...

Ground-Isolated pressure sensor 6125C

Ground-Isolated Pressure Sensor The use of highly-sensitive piezoelectric combustion pressure sensors with built-in ground isolation can largely avoid the effects of electrical interference. The isolation of the sensing element prevents the generation of noise currents and allows interference-free measurements, even if potential differences exist between the engine and the measuring system. The new Kistler Type 6125C is the third generation of a combustion pressure sensor with built-in ground isolation. The use of a new Kistler PiezoStar crystal has made it possible to increase the sensitivity to –37 pC/bar and the pressure range to 300 bar. This innovative sensor ensures precise and reliable measurement data even under noisy testing conditions ...

Presure sensors Series 113B and 102B

New Frequency Tailored ICP® Piezoelectric Pressure Sensors PCB Aerospace & Defense – a division of PCB Piezotronics, Inc., announces a new frequency tailored ICP® and charge output piezoelectric pressure sensors, Series 113B and 102B. The new quartz dynamic pressure sensors have an extremely fast 1 micro-second response time, with resonant frequencies above 500 kHz.  Frequency tailoring, a combination of mass balancing and microelectronics, provides a fast response to shock waves without the high ringing amplitudes experienced with general purpose piezoelectric sensors or resistive silicon semiconductor sensing technologies  ...

MEMS-based inclinometer PTAM2

New MEMS-Based Inclinometer ASM introduces a new, innovative inclinometer series, PTAM2, with ranges from ±5° to ±180° for single axis and from ±5° to ±60° for dual axes in a robust, IP67/IP69K rated all-metal housing. This industrial grade sensor provides a high resolution, linear output signal that is proportional to the inclination angle. The PTAM2 series is the latest addition to the POSITILT® family and is available with four different absolute analog outputs: 0.5-10 V, 4-20 mA, voltage sine(x) and CANopen with a typical resolution of 0.05° ...
