New Side Exit Accelerometer with Integral Cable
The 787F accelerometer’s integral cable is permanently mounted, eliminating a common concern that contaminants can get into the connector. Dirt, oil, grease, water, dust, and other contaminants found in the harsh industrial environment can cause an electrical short, erratic or erroneous readings, and corrosion. In addition to improving sensor reliability, the 787F’s integral cable eliminates concern about the connector backing off the sensor. The connection integrity is critical for inaccessible sensor locations such as inside a gearbox, machine tool monitoring, and underwater applications, like vibration monitoring inside tanks or on submersible pumps. The low profile sensor is designed with a side exit connector and captive screw, for easy installation in confined areas.
The integral cable 787F uses the same rugged, dependable construction methods as the 786F top exit integral cable sensor, which has demonstrated superior reliability. It is a fully welded construction, making the sensor truly hermetically sealed to 1x10-8 cc/sec. This provides superior protection from harsh operating conditions with exposure to various chemical, slurry spray, and highly corrosive compounds, especially at high temperatures, significantly improving the longevity and reliability of the sensor ...

The World Smallest Fiber Optic Pressure Sensor
Quebec City - FISO Technologies Inc. announced the introduction of the FOP-F125 pressure sensor at the MD&M West, a major exhibition in the medical market. This new sensor, which has a diameter of 125 microns instead of 550 microns for the current smallest FISO pressure sensor, is a major breakthrough. The MD&M West exhibition, which is attended by key-decision makers in the medical market, will allow FISO to present the product to potential customers, but also to current collaborators. With dimensions smaller than any competitive product, FISO is again establishing the new standard of the industry and clearly positioning itself as the world technology leader ...

New Automotive Sensor Detects High Intensity Acoustic Sound Pressure Levels
Depew, NY, USA – The Automotive Sensors division of PCB Piezotronics (PCB®) has released new Model 106M160 high intensity ICP® acoustic microphone, designed for measuring airbag deployment noise and total impulse of an inflation event occurring inside of an automotive cabin. The unit offers sensitivities of 79.8 mV/kPa (550 mV/psi); a measurement range of 189 dB (57.2 kPa); 96 dB (1.4 Pa) resolution; and frequency response of 0.05 Hz to 20 kHz filtered output, tailored to the human ear. It survives higher intensity signals, up to 216 dB, that would damage most condenser microphones beyond their 3% distortion limit. The rugged, hermetically sealed, piezoelectric pressure microphone features also ICP® output, for ease of use and reduced setup time ...

Laser Level & Positioning Transmitter for Dry Bulk and Liquid Level Applications
Prairieville, LA -K-TEK announced the LM80 laser transmitter for non-contact level measurement and positioning. Designed for a variety of applications, the LM80 measures position over very long ranges, at distances up to 500 feet (150 meters). The device also accurately measures level at distances up to 100 feet (30 meters). Whether handling plastics, coal, grain, or aggregates, the LM80 can measure any solid surface at any angle. The small wavelength of the laser means a narrower beam with virtually no beam divergence and, therefore, no false echoes. This provides high accuracy readings even when dealing with the most challenging circumstances, such as measuring into silo cones, even inside silo chutes and through narrow openings in protective grids. The LM80 can be installed on any existing silo nozzle, three inches or larger, regardless of location ...

Many applications require to have a portable instrument, connected to sensors and transducers, for measures on machinery in the field. DS Europe, to satisfy this need, proposes the mod. AN601 portable measuring instrument. AN601 has a compact plastic PVC case, a 5 digits red LEDs high luminosity display and 8 push buttons for an easy use. A lid allows to extract the non rechargeable batteries that allow approximately 16 hours working. The single input channel, with extractable connector, has an high resolution 24 bit A/D max. with also high sampling rate. Main functions are: visualization in engineering units (Kg, daN, °C, mm etc), zeroing, tare, hold, positive or negative peak memorization. Many type of transducers can be connected, also produced by DS Europe, like: load cells, pressure transducers, displacement transducers, liquid level meters, inclinometers, temperature probes etc. Typical applications: quality control, metrology, automation etc. ...

CMOS and Rejustor Based Application-Specific Analog Signal Conditioning Chip
Microbridge Technologies, Inc. introduced the world’s first Rejustor-enhanced Analog Integrated Circuit, the MBSTC-02. The integrated CMOS device is the first active analog circuit incorporating Microbridge’s patented passive, polysilicon adjustable resistor technology known as Rejustors. The MBSTC-02 simplifies the design process allowing sensor calibration and temperature compensation after final assembly, which negates cumulative errors associated with the assembly processes, such as manufacturing tolerance errors, error introduced by stress, packaging, etc. Low-cost and high-precision adjustment replaces the requirement for digital signal conditioning. The MBSTC-02 enables the use of lower cost sensors in precision applications, thereby increasing their value in the market ...

Patented Wireless, Batteryless, Implantable Sensors
Integrated Sensing Systems, Inc. (ISSYS) announced that the U.S. Patent Office has granted a patent titled "Anchor for Medical Implant Placement and Method of Manufacture" (U.S. Patent No. 7,317,951) which covers the design and manufacturing of advanced, catheter-delivered, anchors for miniature, wireless, batteryless, implantable sensors within the heart for chronic, non-invasive monitoring of cardiovascular biological pressures.
ISSYS' wireless, batteryless sensor and the anchor are delivered via a catheter in an outpatient procedure. The biocompatible anchor allows the miniature telemetric sensor to be stabilized within the heart and monitor the left atrium. This is a very difficult task due to the stringent biocompatibility requirements of the left heart. The anchor design allows the minimum size increase to the cylindrical wireless sensor and thus reduces the size of the delivery catheter. The novel anchor manufacturing renders highly reliable anchors demanded by chronic nature of cardiac sensors ...
