Part 9. Sensor Buses, Protocols and Networks

Abstract. The following sensor buses and protocols are described in this part: I2C, SPI, SMBus, Maxim/Dallas 1-Wire and 3-Wire buses, CAN Bus. MODBus (protocol), SSI (bus and protocol), Fieldbus. Comparative analyze of different sensor buses is given. Smart sensors buses are a new kind of application and IS2 (Integrated Smart Sensor) bus is mentioned. At the end of part the wireless sensor networks briefly described and comparative analyze of two wireless standard ZidBee and Bluetooth is given.
