Pokras S.I., Pokras A.I., Pokras I.S., Grishanova A.I. Ultrasonic flowmetering: how and why improve measurements accuracy?

The leading role of ultrasonic flowmeters is demonstrated, and further improvement of ultrasonic techniques is discussed. The effect of several factors destabilizing the operation of ultrasonic flowmeters is analyzed for their preliminary detection and prevention. This is a major step to the improvement of instrumental energy accounting and hence to vast cost savings.

Titov V.S., Ivanov V.I., Bobyr’ M.V., Barteneva Yu.L. An automated surface roughness monitoring system based on ultrasonic sensors

The paper discusses the functional principle of an automated surface roughness monitoring system used in part cutting with CNC based on real-time ultrasonic sensors application. Experimental investigation results show the opportunity for the resolution of 2 broadband reflected long-duration signals if the 2nd signal starts in 1-2 µs after the 1st one.

Lebedev D.V., Selifanova V.V. On the modulation depth and nonlinearity of thin-film quasidifferential pressure sensors

The paper analyzes the variants of gap modulation depth and its effect on the nonlinearity of  quasidifferential thin-film capacitance pressure sensors. It proves that triple pressure overload can be admitted under permissible measurement accuracy loss due to the decreased gap modulation depth. The paper notes that the new sensors exceed vibroresonance pressure gages (cylinder, string, tuning-fork) pressure gages in overall performance.

Bogoslovsky S.V. SAW-based dispersion strain gaging resonator

SAW-based dispersion strain gaging resonator with non-equidistant transducer is a new type sensing element for pressure gages. The opportunity for more than tenfold improvement of SAW-based resonator sensor’s accuracy is shown.
